Shai belched loudly, while dumping in the sixth heaping spoonful of sugar into her tea and stirring it with almost enough force to break the cup. Friday afternoon and the place was dead... she had never seen it like this before. It seemed they didn't remember her either, otherwise she would have been booted out before she got two feet in... she wondered if anyone would remember her... or even- if she would see any of the old residents. Shai's time spent in Hakkyou was time she missed, memories she cherished. Everywhere else life was difficult and confusing. The Inn was her haven... she just hoped that one day things could return to the way they once were.

Ares raises the cup to his mouth, the coffee scalding his lips, but he really didn't notice as he fiddled with his free hand on the lens of his old camera.
A sudden belch from the other end of the restaurant brought about his attention, drawing his eyes to a particularily pritty female, who aggressivly stirred a spoon in her cup.
Ares picked up his camera and focused in on her, adjusting the light mrter to the unattural lighting of the dim restaurant, and pressed the shutter button and snapped a picture ot the girl, he slowly lowered the camera, then proceeded to sit in silence at his sucluded table.

It's now completely dark outside by the time the two girls make it back to the Inn. Shinkan is feeling the strain as her weakened body protests her over exertion. Entering the lounge, she heads directly to the closest table and plops wearily down into a chair. Her body trembles and she slowly lets her head sink into her hands, resting for a few moments.
Glancing up as she feels a little bit of energy return to her, she makes note of the two other people in the room. A female and a male. Turning her gaze to the table, she spots the menus. Glancing at Skye, she gives her questioning look.

Skye followed the mysterious girl into the restaurant. She flops into the chair opposite her companion, glancing at the menu.
"Oy, this all looks real good," Skye said cheerfully, though she took notice of the girl's weariness.
She took a moment to study her surroundings. The place was fairly empty, save for two other diners and the wait staff. Skye smiled as the waiter brought over a few glasses of water.
"A few more minutes?" he asked politely.
"Please," Skye replied. She took a few sips of her water and looked over at the silent girl sitting across from her. "Doesn't look like it'll be too much of a wait!"
Skye smiled, but in her mind, she was puzzling about this girl. Mysterious, silent, and seemingly very frail. Skye was not sure what to make of her, but was certain that the both of them could definitely use the friendship.
"I think I might have some soba....it looks so good!" Skye decided out loud, casting an uncomfortable glance at the other two diners. The man made her uneasy.

At the other's comment, Shinkan takes up a menu of her own and scans over it. Huh... I even don't know any of these dishes... Shaking her head in frustration, she glances up as the waiter approaches the table, glad for the brief distraction from her dilemma. Nodding in thanks, she accepts the water and glances sideways at Skye. Delicious...
Noticing the direction of the frequent glances that Skye keeps shooting around, Shinkan peers to her right and slightly behind herself. There sits a rather dark and brooding man, camera held in his hands. Frowning, she turns back, facing the other girl. What does she see? She, herslf, had gotten a bad vibe from him, a feeling of unease, if you will.
Sighing, she returns her attention to the menu. Deciding to go by the pictures as much as the description, she makes a choice at random. Glancing back up, she catches the grin. Giving an uncertain smile in return, she flips her menu over and points to her choice. Its a bowl of kitsune udon with a side of fried rice and steamed snow peas. Again, she gives a questioning look. Is this good?, she wants to know her companion's opinion.

Skye looked at the item on the menu the girl was pointing at.
"Good choice," she declared.
The waiter returned just moments later, and Skye, thinking it best to order for the both of them, did just that. He left to fill their order, and Skye turned her attention to her companion again.
"I had relatives a few generations back from around here," she told the girl, hoping that she wasn't getting bored of hearing her talk. "It's weird...I get a strange feeling being here. I feel different somehow. There's something about this place..."
She looked about the room again, her eyes resting on Ares for a moment. Even when his attention wasn't on her, she felt uncomfortable. She shook it off, and turned her attention back to the girl sitting in front of her.
"I really want to go exploring as soon as possible," she said excitedly. "I feel like there's something I need to discover here. Something important."
She was interrupted as their waiter returned to their table with their food. Skye took her chopsticks in hand and proceeded to dig in.

Smile turning a bit more sure at Skye's approval, Shinkan folds the menu and puts it into the little holder on one side of the table. Throwing the other a grateful look when she orders, she finds her gaze being drawn back to the man emitting such a negative vibe. Who is he? Turning her attention back to her companion, she frowns. Does she know him? She seems to recognize him...
Shaking her head, she listens to Skye's ramblings on, a small, sad smile shaping her lips. Relatives... This place is her roots? Leaning forward bit, she places her hands together and rests chin on it, simply enjoying the sound of the other's voice.
Frowning, she wonders. A feeling of difference...? Discover? Important? Cocking her head to the side, she begins to reach out to tap the other and indicate a wish for a better description, but then the food arrives.
Glancing down at the steaming food set before her, she smiles in thanks to the waiter. He simply grins back and gives the silver haired girl a wink. Bending down a bit, the young man murmurs, his soft voie not carrying past the two girl's table, "Don't worry about paying, Shinkan-san, you'll soon be working it off. It' part of the deal, ne?" Blinking in surprise, she slowly nods her head. Smile widening, he take his leave.
This is the first time she's eaten a meal out of sickbed and without Ryoku bringing it to her. It feels a a tad strange to be eating at a table instead of in bed. Glancing down at the chopsticks, she gives a sift huff of air. At least I know how to eat with these. Apparently, my body remembers how to hold them... Which leads to her belief that she's either from this country or was at least familiar with its customs before she'd arrived at the Inn.
Returning her gaze to her food, she glances at Skye, who seems to already be chowing down. Her stomach gives forth a low rumble and she puts it off no longer. Taking hold of her own chop sticks, she falls to, enjoying the dish, at least as she can remember, for the first time.

"Shinkan," Skye echoed the waiter. "Then, that's your name! Funny how things work out like that, eh?"
She sat thoughtfully for a moment, her indigo eyes unfocused and daydreamish. What was it about being here? It was more than just nostalgic, more than just a sense of her roots.
"I wonder..." she pondered aloud.
She finished up her meal, and left money on the table to pay for it. Looking over at Shinkan, she smiled, though she was kind of sad the meal had come to an end. She knew what awaited her afterwards...back to her room to start the arduous task of unpacking.
"Well, Shinkan," she said cheerfully, getting up quickly but gracefully. It seemed that she moved much faster than a normal person. "It was nice to meet you! I hope we run across each other again soon. I've got to get some unpacking done, so hopefully I'll see you later!"
She offered the other girl a quick but polite bow, and headed out of the restaurant, up the stairs, and into her now very dark room, which was remedied simply by turning on the light.

"Shinkan," Skye echoed the waiter. "Then, that's your name! Funny how things work out like that, eh?"
Looking up at Skye's words, Shinkan frowns. Is it? She's not sure. All she knows is that the Inn's workers and residents have come to calling her that, something about it meaning silence... Sighing, she glances back down to her half eaten meal. Taking a few more bites, she peeks up at her dinner partner, but the other seems to be lost in her own world. Shrugging, she returns to eating.
Hearing movement, she looks up from her food and sees Skye place some money onto the table. Blinking at the other's smile, she returns it with a sad one of her own. She rather liked the hyper active girl, her company was better than none at all. But... she knows that her companion probably has things to do. So, her smile still in place, she raises her hand in farewell and watches at the other walks away.
Smile fading, her eyes turn distant. So... she she doesn't know me... Sighing heavily, she completes her meal. Stacking all of the plates and trash neatly in the center of the table, she gives a polite bow to the waiter, who had returned to the clean the table.
Giving the silver haired girl another wink, he begins to clear the table. Frowning in thought, Shinkan only barely catches the wink. Slate eyes distant and slightly out of focus, she wanders out of the restaurant, to do... something.
